Application Process and Admissions Requirements
Yes, applicants are required to take a standardized test such as SAT/ACT.
In addition to standardized test scores, applicants must submit a high school diploma and transcript and display English proficiency.
See more about the application process here.
Please note as well that the requirements are general and might change. Thus, it is highly recommended contacting BGU’s counselors prior to applying via email: rishum@bgu.ac.il
Application season is during the Fall semester.
Applicants must apply in the academic year they want to start their studies
There is a Hebrew requirement: All applicants who take a standardized test in a foreign language (other than Hebrew) must take a “Yael” test (Hebrew proficiency test);. Each department has its own requirement where the minimal score is 105 (out of 150). Moreover, there is an English requirement. The English level is determined according to the scored one accomplished in the SAT/ACT verbal section. Eventually, each department/faculty has its unique requirements. For example: For most Engineering faculty departments, in addition to the basic requirements (high school diploma, standardized test Hebrew and English requirements), one needs to have at least two APs (that were done via the college board): One in Calculus and the other one in Physics, with a minimum score of 3. Moreover, for the Natural Sciences departmental faculty, some of the Health Sciences departmental faculty, and the Department of Economics there is a need for a specific calculation that can be calculated with the standardized test either with four APs (some departments require AP in math) with minimum score of 3 or Ben-Gurion preparatory program. For the Medical School there is a requirement of 4 APs but they will not be taken into account in the calculation. In this case, in addition to the basic requirements pointed above, the current requirement for a summon is a standardized test that is converted to 730 psychometric test.
Please note that the requirements are general and might change. Thus, it is highly recommended contacting BGU’s counselors prior to applying via email: rishum@bgu.ac.il
Students do not get credits on APs taken in high school. Credit transfer/accreditation are given after acceptance by the teaching committee. Academic credits are considered if a student studied in an accredited institution.
See answer above.
Generally, transfer credits are accepted, however there are restrictions on that matter. This is done after the acceptance in front of the departmental teaching committee.
One can resume his/her studies if it stands up to the academic standards.
Finances
There are different dorm options and prices very between $350-860 per month.
Financial aid is determined by the Office of the Dean of Students, and the results of their evaluation may also impact financial aid for housing (but there is no specific application for housing). Please see information on financial assistance here.
Please see information on scholarships here.
Israeli students are covered through a kupa (HMO). International students are required to have Israeli health insurance in order to apply for a Visa. Please see options here.
Students can also expect to have to pay for a dormitory deposit, electricity and water, Wi-Fi, campus parking, a mandatory security fee (637 NIS), and a welfare fee (optional, 448 NIS).

BGU is fully immersive. Israeli and international students participate in the same classes, campus activities and events. There isn’t a separate international school for international students.
Living Arrangements
Students live in dormitories and rental apartments in Beer-Sheva.
The dormitory contracts are usually until September (a month before the new school year begins). A student who is continuing his/her studies can renew the contract for another year.
The specific needs are taken into consideration when placing roommates in the dormitory apartments.
