Meet Beto Valt, a second-year student at Reichman University. He reflects on his early days in Israel, sharing that when he first arrived, he felt a bit lost. The transition from a yeshiva environment to the academic and social world of a university was challenging. But then Beto found JLIC Mizrachi Herzliya—and everything began to shift.
JLIC became a lifeline for him, showing him that it was not only possible but deeply fulfilling to live a Jewish, religious life while navigating the demands of university. From early-morning shacharit to late-night shiurim, JLIC became woven into the rhythm of his daily life. It offered not just religious structure, but also personal support—something he didn’t realize he would need so much.
Beyond the learning and spiritual growth, Beto speaks about the vibrant community he’s found. He’s formed lifelong friendships with people from all over the world—Brazil, Switzerland, Germany, the U.S., Canada—representing a beautiful range of experiences: students like himself, soldiers in the IDF, working professionals, and more. The community is diverse, growing, and united by shared values. Beto expresses deep gratitude for the privilege of studying, living, and thriving as part of this unique and supportive JLIC community in Herzliya.
