In the wake of October 7th, young women from abroad have been answering Israel’s call in unprecedented numbers, drawn by a profound desire to serve through Sherut Leumi (National Service). These remarkable young women leave behind the comfort of their homes and families to dedicate one or two formative years to serve Israeli society.
The journey of a Lone Bat Sherut is filled with both meaningful service and unique challenges. Far from family support networks, navigating a new culture and language, these women demonstrate extraordinary courage and commitment.
Many of these dedicated young women found their way into JLIC communities across Israel, seeking connection and support as they navigate this transformative experience. We’ve watched as these Bnot Sherut pour their hearts into schools, hospitals, and social service organizations during the day, only to return to sometimes lonely apartments in the evening.
Recognizing this growing need, JLIC created the Jerusalem Hub—a comprehensive support system designed specifically for Lone Bnot Sherut at every stage of their journey. The Hub has become a true home away from home, offering crucial emotional and practical support that transforms their service experience.
By creating this supportive community of like-minded young women, JLIC ensures that these dedicated volunteers not only survive but thrive during their service year—and often build foundations for a future in Israel long after their official service concludes.
