Ever wondered what it’s like to be an international student at Tel Aviv University, balancing rigorous academics with a rich Jewish life? Join Tyla, a bright and passionate TAU student, as she gives us a glimpse into her day—a beautiful blend of learning, growth, and community.
Tyla begins her morning with a ballet class, using movement as a way to wake up her body and clear her mind for the day ahead. It’s her personal moment of mindfulness before diving into the intellectual challenges that await.
Next up is her History of the Middle East course, where she explores the region’s past and gains insight into the events that have shaped it. The academic setting is stimulating, and the conversations are thought-provoking—a hallmark of the TAU experience.
She then joins a Tanach Shiur (Bible class) led by JLIC’s Rav Eitan Phillips, offering her a chance to step back from the academic pace and engage with Jewish texts in a thoughtful, meaningful way.
Later, she heads to a Business and Law lecture, where she learns how legal frameworks intersect with the corporate world. It’s a dynamic subject that prepares her for real-world impact.
Lunchtime is a chance to unwind. Tyla relaxes on the sunny campus lawn, enjoying a meaningful conversation (and some good laughs) with a friend. The open, green spaces of TAU offer the perfect backdrop for connection and rest.
The afternoon calls for productivity, so Tyla and a classmate head to Aroma for a focused study session. Over coffee and notes, they prep for upcoming assignments and exams.
As the day winds down, she attends a Philosophy class—an intellectually rich experience that challenges her to think deeply and question her assumptions.
Finally, the day ends on a high note with a fun and welcoming JLIC social event. There’s sushi, good company, and even better conversation—an opportunity to relax, connect with peers, and feel part of a vibrant Jewish community.
