Young men and women from abroad have been answering Israel’s call to serve in the IDF in unprecedented numbers. These remarkable young people leave behind the comfort of their homes and families to dedicate themselves to serving their country.
The journey of a Lone Soldier is filled with both meaningful service and unique challenges. Far from family support networks, navigating a new culture and language, these individuals demonstrate extraordinary courage and commitment.
Many of these dedicated young people found their way into JLIC communities across Israel, seeking connection and support as they navigate this transformative experience. On weekends off from the army, they return to their home – their JLIC communities. From Shabbat meals shared around lively tables, to help with laundry, errands, or army gear, JLIC staff and community members stand beside them and provide them with a warm embrace.
The JLIC Lone Soldier Program was created with one mission: to ensure that no soldier stands alone. We provide a robust support system that addresses the practical, emotional, and spiritual needs of Lone Soldiers throughout their service.
